This Is No Joke: America is on the Wrong Side

Last week, Glen Beck put together an incredible show.  Watch it.  Even if you think you hate Glen Beck’s guts, even if you spell Fox News with a Faux, if you care at all about America or Israel, watch it now.  Seriously, go on ahead.  I’ll wait.

(Update:  For those who don’t want to take the time to watch the video, here’s an excellent written summary.)

He really did an excellent job of pulling together the pieces to make sense of our seemingly schizophrenic foreign and economic policy, doesn’t he?  However, I think there’s a dimension to the Enemy’s game that Beck is missing, and that’s the Plan B.  If destroying Israel and the West fails, what then?

Well, that would depend entirely on what caused the plan to fail.  Let’s suppose that Israel stands alone and prevails.  Then the Adversary might have to introduce another element, someone to make peace between the warring parties through some sort of covenant or treaty–and of course, Israel will be made out to be the bad guy, since whatever methods she will have to use to survive are not likely to be gentle or pretty.

But let’s suppose that Beck gets his wish and the Christians of America were to stand up and “take back our country” and threw our support behind Israel.  I think there’s a real possibility that whatever war breaks out will be laid directly at the feet of Christians and Jews everywhere (pretty much what we see happening already with all of the “Bush’s war” rhetoric of the last decade, but even more accelerated), and this too will help set up the endgame described in Scripture.

Of course, given who some of the major players are–Libya (Put), Egypt, Turkey (Magog), Iran (Persia), etc.–we almost have to wonder if the war of Gog and Magog is upon us.  I don’t think so, but that’s an opinion based on my own sense of the timing of the events of Daniel’s 70th Week, which may or may not be correct.  Other prophecy buffs wonder if the war described in Psalm 83 is at hand.  My own suspicion is that we’ve been seeing that war play out in several smaller wars since 1948.

My own suspicion–and it is just a guess, subject to amendment or tossing aside as more information comes in–is that we may, may, MAY well be on the precipice of a conflict described in Daniel 11:21-28.  This prophecy was, of course, fulfilled by Antiochus Epimanes, who set up the first Abomination of Desolation (cf. v. 31).  Since Yeshua warned us that there would be another Abomination (Mat. 24:15), I believe that the one who sets that one up will fulfill the same sequence of prophecies that Antiochus did, if not necessarily precisely the same way.  (I refer readers again to the Multiple Fulfillments of Prophecy post.)

If that’s true, then see what the prophet predicted:

In his (the prior King of the North’s) place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries (lit. “slipperiness”).  The overwhelming forces shall be overwhelmed from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant.  After the treaty made with him he shall work deceitfully; for he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people.

In time of security shall he come even on the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yes, he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.  He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall war in battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not stand; for they shall devise devices against him.  Yes, they who eat of his dainties shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow; and many shall fall down slain.

As for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.  Then shall he return into his land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do his pleasure, and return to his own land.

What overwhelming force will be overwhelmed by this successor to Antiochus?  Is it possible that the prophecy is referring to the coming assault against Israel by her enemies–enemies which may well include her only present friend in the world?  If that scenario is correct, then it makes perfect sense why Israel would allow their apparent savior to enforce a covenant of peace–and why, if Israel were on the verge of using the Sampson Option, the rest of the world would see this person as their savior too.

See, it’s entirely possible (and this idea has been floating around among prophecy buffs lately) that the current New World Order/U.N./Soros power structure is meant to be sacrificed so that when the Man of Sin truly rises, we will all look to him as the one who saved us from a group of known Powers That Be who are hated by so many in the West, East, and Middle-east alike.

This is just all one possible scenario, of course.  It’s possible that we’ll see Israel simply win another war, as she did in ’48, ’67, and ’73.  I’m not going to try to predict when the 70th Week will begin or when the Second Coming will occur.  I don’t claim to be a prophet.  I’m just laying out a possible scenario for the sake of discussion.  We’ll have to wait and see.  Or better yet, we’ll have to see while occupying ourselves with our King’s business until He comes.

One way or another, time is short.  Be in prayer, walk in righteousness that our prayers may be heard, and harken to the voice of the King that we may walk in His righteousness.

Maranatha and shalom.
